HI Welcome to my page.
I just got back from traveling to Las Vegas where I competed in the National 1999 Dance America Dancer of the Year and group competition. I am thrilled to let you know that I became the 1999 Dancer of the Year First Runner Up. The following is from an article my mom put in our local newspaper: Kim Wyatt became the 1999 National Dance America, Dancer of the Year, First Runner Up in the National Finals held in Las Vegas June 30 - July 4. Wyatt was one of 57 competitors from the United States, Canada and Mexico vying for the title. The dancers were judged in three categories; interview, jazz class audition and solo performance. The interview consisted of the judges asking questions related to dance, self and personal values, during the jazz class audition the judges gave the contestants jazz steps and then the contestants performed the routine and were judged on memory and stylization, in the solo performance category Wyatt performed a Senior Solo Modern dance, entitled Egypt, choreographed by Stephanie Matthews of White Oak Dance Academy. The scores from each category were then combined, Wyatt tied for high score in the jazz class audition and came within 3 points on solo performance for high score. Wyatt had the second highest combined score to receive the honor of becoming the 1999 Dancer of the Year, First Runner Up. The contestants also performed a Dancer of the Year production number choreographed by Mr. Sam Fiorello. The contestants and Mr. Fiorello where given ten hours over a two day period to meet each other, learn the routine and perfect the production number before it was performed in front of a live audience. As First Runner Up, Wyatt received a scholarship to Broadway Dance Center in New York by Mr. Frank Hatchett.
I am a Senior in High School, and as you already know a dancer, a Who's Who Among American High School Students (two year recipient) and a Who's Who Among American High School Athletes. I enjoy going to the lake, swimming, knee boarding, sking, etc. (I like water sports) horse back riding, fishing, fitness training, going to the movies, listening to music and hanging with my friends. My number one enjoyment is dancing and performing on stage. I am planning on pursuing dance as my career and would someday like to live in New York and perform on Broadway.
Th3 1998-99 Dance Competition Season was my last year as a member of the White Oak Dance Academy Dance Troupe. We competed routines at the regional and national levels and won many first and second place awards. I will be sad when the next dance competition season rolls around and I am no longer a part of it but at the same time I am looking forward to beginning a professional dance career.
I Love Animals. We have 2 cats at our house, Noel and Killer. Killer is Dad's cat and the name does not fit, it is afraid of it's own shadow. Noel is the newest addition to our family, she is cold black. Noel started out to be my sister's cat but Kristi left it at our house too long and mom got so attached to her that mom wouldn't give Noel up.
